FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM. Classic British FS “Fairbairn Sykes” fighting dagger with razor-sharp dual-edge blade and original metal-tipped leather scabbard in rare unused condition. An official NATO military issue made in the UK in 1976 and appropriately marked as such on the handguard. This FS pattern pretty much remained unchanged since mid-WW2.  This FS dagger type is illustrated on page 133 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the book’s page scan attached). Originally designed as the “commando dagger” for the elite British special-ops forces, these “FS” fighting knives became super-popular with the British and American servicemen stationed in the UK during WW2. After the war the FS dagger became a classic combat knife; it remained in service in some countries to this day. This dagger is unused; the blade has not been gently sharpened, original factory edge is razor-sharp still; needle-like tip is intact. Grooved cast metal handle with the screw-on bronze pommel lug nut. No dings or contact marks on the grooves or the pommel; all parts are solid with no play – rare this nice.  The guard is stamped on the underside; blued blade is unmarked, as intended. This dagger is about 11-5/8″ / 29.5 cm overall; the blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm; original blade bluing is intact. Original dark-brown “sew-on” leather scabbard is in excellent shape; all stitching and leather “wings” are intact; an elastic band keeper is still stretchy. The scabbard’s throat is intact; no typical cuts or puncture holes – this type is scarce this nice. Don’t miss your chance to add this original Cold War era British Fairbairn Sykes NATO fighting dagger to your collection! This classic British Fairbairn Sykes NATO fighting dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
