Description WW2 Dix fighting knife, 6.5-inch M3 style blade, original M8 composition scabbard. Very rare American “private purchase” type fighter in excellent overall condition, considering the age. Original WW2 era American fighting knife manufactured by a little known knife maker Dix – this this a VERY hard-to-find “private purchase” type fighter.  This exact type is illustrated on page 113 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the page’s scan attached). The knife is about 11″ / 28 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long; the edge is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers handle with large pinned round iron pommel and steel guard. The handle is solid; all parts are tight; the guard has a tiny bit of a play. Original WW2 era M8 composition scabbard is in excellent overall condition as well.  With proper care this WW2 Dix fighting knife will last you another 85 years �� This rare WW2 Dix fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition; this type is rare in unused condition.
