Original 1879 New York State National Guard 14th Regiment (Brooklyn Chasseurs) Company A team RIFLE MARKSMAN silver “target” badge; rare type

Description NY National Guard regimental Rifle Marksman silver badge awarded in 1879 to 14th Regiment (also called the 14th Brooklyn Chasseurs), A Company. Rare type in excellent condition, considering the age. Rare and possibly unique Rifle Marksman silver  “target” badge awarded in 1879 to New York State National Guard 4th Regiment (also called the 14th Brooklyn Chasseurs) , A company team. Silver planks “ladder” construction the “target” made of hot-applied black enamel. This is a quality-made square badge with the original “crossed muskets”  pin-on suspension. This specimen was awarded to the A Company team member Jas M. Robertson – the name and the regiment/company number are hand-engraved on the back. The main badge part is about 32.3 mm diameter, about 2.5 mm thick; the total length of this ladder badge is about 64 mm / 2-1/2 inches; total weight is about 0.59 oz / 16.7 grams. This rare shooting award is part of an old-time collection from a NJ-based gentleman which I recently purchased; I have about 20 various US badges, pins, and awards to list, some are pretty rare. Very attractive specimen with original light-gray patina and fantastic eye appeal. Not cleaned or tempered with; these are the actual photos.
