The 101st was also known as the screaming eagles as their mascot was the Bald Eagle. The Screaming Eagles were a light infantry division that specialized in air assault. During WWII the 101st battled in Normandy leading the way on D-Day with their pre-landing drops. Also during Operations Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge and Alsace.
